New PDF Invoice Template
Our new pdf invoice template has been integrated into Clear Books. We wanted a professional invoice design that was conservative on ink usage. The invoice retains features of our previous invoice template such as a bespoke company logo and contact details, option to display payment details, and all necesary fields for a valid VAT invoice.
Getting Started
The getting started process has been made more robust to ensure that first time users set up the accounts system correctly. A key feature of this is confirming the first accounting period and therefore the start date for using the software.
This is important because Clear Books will not allow transactions to be processed prior to the start date or beyond your first year end. This ensures that
- the risk of entering dates incorrectly is minimised
- you do not include transactions that relate to a different accounting period
So what happens to sales invoices invoiced before but paid after the start date? At the point in time of the start date, such invoices are collectively referred to as your opening debtor balance i.e. at the start date these customers all owed you money.
Opening Debtor Balances can be set in Settings > Getting Started > Debtors. It is simply a form that allows you to create invoices raised prior to the start date.
Opening Cash Balances can be set in Settings > Getting Started > Cash. Getting your bank balance set correctly will ensure that your Clear Books bank statement reconciles to your actual bank statement. Of course, if you are a start-up or newly incorporated company, then your opening bank balance will be zero.
The Getting Started checklist on the Dashboard guides you through these and other tasks that need to be completed to use the system properly.
