When the coffee shop staff next door to your office start to greet you by your first name then that’s the sign you need to get a meeting room.
The Clear Books team was housed in an open plan office for 2 years before I was able to add a separate meeting room. It’s been a huge benefit to the team.
There is a lot to be said for the openness and transparency that comes with an open plan office but sometimes you need somewhere for:
- a private discussion
- debate within a department
- quiet
- no one listening in
- not embarrassing someone in front of colleagues
- interviewing a candidate
- meeting a potential partner
- meeting clients
Getting a separate meeting room / break out space has massively improved communication at Clear Books.
