Please tell us a bit about yourself:
I am originally from New Zealand and have been in the UK for 10 years now – I am an avid rugby fan (kind of have to be where I am from) and love to travel, cook and have a little cat called Bob and live in Camberley.
My focus is working with owner managed businesses as I am able to surround myself with people that are literally following their passions and dreams, it’s very motivating and the energy that people/ put into these businesses needs to be celebrated more. My speciality within Microsoft is engaging small and medium businesses with our technology and making sure that businesses are using our tech to its full potential.
What will you be speaking about at the Clear Books Community Exhibition?
Sometimes we see customers doing things the long way and putting a lot of effort into administrative processes – this is something that most people don’t enjoy. Microsoft technology is an enabler and I will talk about how we can make life easier with some tips and tricks in Excel and other applications. Also using the latest developments from Microsoft, we can really bring numbers to life, which is particularly important to people who are not (as Clear Books say…) bean counters!
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
Chatting to the businesses on the day and hearing about what drives them to succeed and the stories behind why they set up.
What’s your favourite piece of business advice?
Fail fast, fail early. Don’t wait until its perfect, it takes bravery but get feedback and use this to shape the future of your product/service – if you wait too long someone else will get there first!
Why should small business owners book their ticket to CBCE now?
Owning a small business is lonely – what better opportunity to meet people that are in the same situation as you in a relaxed environment… who knows, you might even learn some hacks to make life easier.
What’s your favourite thing about Clear Books?
Working with Clear Books is easy – they have a small passionate team and this allows them to be agile and react quickly. Also, the team are very friendly which helps – business doesn’t always have to be serious!
